Dealing with
the Bridal Salon
There
are many aspects to planning a wedding and as you
embark on planning for the first time, it can be very
overwhelming and stressful. One very important aspect
of your planning is choosing a bridal salon. When
choosing a bridal salon, you should consider a place
that you feel comfortable with and that you can trust.
Unfortunately though, no matter how wonderful a salon
and its staff may seem, it is important to remember
that they deal with many brides and the room for error
is present. It is very important to take an active
interest in making sure that your dealings with your
bridal salon go smoothly and are hassle-free. Here
are some tips to make dealing with your bridal salon
a pleasant and stress-free experience:
Observe
the relationship between the staff and other clients
– When you walk into a bridal salon for the
very first time, pay attention to the relationship
between other clients and the staff. Does the staff
seem friendly, knowledgeable and helpful? Do the other
clients seem satisfied or do they seem frustrated
and uncomfortable?
Note
the staff’s reaction to your requests
– When you begin searching through wedding dresses,
you should expect some helpful hints and suggestions
from the staff member that is helping you. However,
the staff member should respect your wishes and not
try to force you to choose a certain dress or keep
you from choosing one. Do not let a staff member pressure
you into making a decision that you will regret later.
Ask
many questions and get everything in writing
– Do not forget to ask all of your questions.
It would be very helpful for you to write down any
questions you have before arriving at the salon so
as not to forget any. Confirm the price of the dress
you are interested in, confirm a stated delivery date
for your dress (this is very important), and find
out how much alterations on your dress will cost should
you need them, and find out what the refund or return
policy is. Make sure all of these details are included
in your contract or on some type of receipt given
to you by the salon. It is very important to know
that the manufacturer of your dress has a strict contract
with your bridal salon and can not give you any information
directly about when your dress will arrive at the
salon. Your bridal salon acts as the liaison and is
the only way for you to get any information as to
when your dress should arrive.
Keep
informed on the progress of your order
– This is one of the most important things to
do. Do not just assume that because you chose a dress
and left a deposit with the bridal salon, that your
dress will arrive on the day it is due. Give a follow
up call to the salon and definitely call if you have
not heard from your salon and the due date for your
dress has arrived. Your salon is very busy and has
many customers and will not remember off-hand which
dresses are due and when. Mistakes can happen to the
best of us and making sure that everything is running
on scheduled can avoid unwanted disasters.
